Our culture has deserted God’s law.
The drift and desertion has been gradual and incremental
Taking place over decades.
But the gap or chasm that now exists between God’s law and our thoughts, attitudes and behavior is colossal.
The result?
We’ve “embraced depravity.”
One translation of Proverbs 28:4 reads, “Those who turn their back on what they know is right will no longer be able to tell right from wrong…” What a description of this current moment in culture. We can’t “tell right from wrong.”
Our culture has reached a tipping point.
We’ve lost our grip on truth.
We’ve surrendered sanity to the author of confusion and his minions.
We’ve rejected moral clarity about even the most obvious of issues.
The consequences are obvious.
Confusion.
Chaos.
Insanity.
Immorality.
Foolishness (Romans 1:22).
Violence.
Fear.
Anarchy.
A world on the brink…
In Psalm 11:2, the writer asked this question,
“When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

The second half of Proverbs 28:4 provides an answer.
“…if you love God’s law, you fight for it tooth and nail.” (MSG)
The NKJ renders Proverbs 28:4, “Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, But such as keep the law contend with them.” (Cf. Jude 1:3)
But, how do we “fight for [God’s law] tooth and nail”?
How do we “contend with them”?
How do we “contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s people” (Jude 1:3)?
Here are a few starters:
—By knowing and loving God’s law (Psalm 119:165; John 8:32). Develop an insatiable hunger for God’s Word. In fact, I like to say it like this: I read God’s Word daily, not because I’m super spiritual, but because I am absolutely DESPERATE.
—By humbly, lovingly, yet, courageously speaking TRUTH in a world of lies (1 Peter 3:15-16). Find your voice. Speak truth. Humbly. Lovingly. But, courageously.
—By refusing to bow to the gods of moral relativism. Most issues are not “morally complex.” The prophet challenged us, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light in place of darkness…” (Isaiah 5:20)
—By recovering your voice.
—By calling evil “evil.”
—By calling sin “sin.”
—By challenging theories rooted in godless ideologies like Marxism and communism.
—By valuing and cherishing LIFE as sacred and beautiful at every stage — from the womb to the tomb.
—By honoring the identities God gave humanity when He created us in His image — “MALE and FEMALE He created them” (Genesis 1:27).
—By taking a humble, loving, yet courageous stand against those who would mandate language that denies the reality of the sexes.
—By presenting the TRUTH of GOD’S ETERNAL WORD as it relates to every issue in a reverent, loving, humble, yet courageous way (1 Peter 3:15-16).
—By refusing to BOW and to REMAIN STANDING TALL when the “music” of this culture blares and everyone around us falls into the politically correct position (Daniel 3).
—By determining that our ULTIMATE ALLEGIANCE is to a KING whose kingdom “is not of this world” (John 18;36). Therefore, we will not give our total allegiance to those who ride the backs of donkeys or elephants.
Instead, our allegiance is reserved for the one who will return riding on a white horse,
the one who is called “Faithful and True,”
the one who wears a robe “dipped in blood” — the blood He shed to redeem and free us from sin, Satan, ourselves and every other conceivable tyranny and bondage,
the one who name is ”the Word of God,” and,
the one who is coming again to “judge and make war” against anything and everything that raises itself against His authority (Revelation 19:11-14).
Our ULTIMATE ALLEGIANCE goes only to the ONE TRUE KING, GOD, LEADER and SAVIOR!
His name is JESUS! The only person to ever take on death, hell and the grave and walk out VICTORIOUS, leaving them in the dust and aftershock of His RESURRECTION!
This is a start as to how we can “contend” and “fight.” There are other, even more practical ways, I’m sure… But surely, this is a start.
So, STAND TALL.
Don’t relinquish your GRIP on TRUTH.
Refuse to play games with reality.
